The QR Code Student Badge authentication system provides an alternate, streamlined login method for North Carolina PreK through Grade 5 students.

Statewide Default Availability & Local Choice

The Badge feature is enabled statewide by default for PreK–Grade 5. Public School Units (PSUs) choose whether to print and use badges, and PSU administrators may opt out of the Badge feature for applicable grades if desired.

How to Log In with a Badge

  1. Open the official NCEdCloud login page on a device equipped with a camera.
  2. Click the Scan Student Badge button.
  3. Hold the printed QR badge in front of the camera until the code is recognized.
  4. Upon successful scan, the student dashboard opens automatically without entering a password.
